OC90-Trigger Warning – Dr Adi Jaffe-Author of The Abstinence Myth, Overcoming Addiction Without Same, Judgement or Rules

Hi Friend,

So happy to be spending this time with you today!

Just want to send out a quick shout out to all the new subscribers and followers of the odaat chat FB page. Not sure who all is sharing the podcast, but there was a huge bump in downloads, so thanks to all the supporters! Let’s keep up the momentum and get the message of recovery out there!

Okay, I’ve never done this before, but I included a trigger warning on this episode, because I suspect some 12 step purests are going to freak out a little bit. All I ask is that you try to stay open. You know, like the coins say “Honest, Open minded and willing”.

But before I jump in, I’m excited to share that SoberLifeSchool will have a new class schedule starting this fall. I will have dates for a live class called “The Connection Cure” and a weight loss coaching program called “The Metabolic Balance Plan”- A holistic mind-body-spirit approach that gives you the mechanics to restore metabolism and lose body fat, but also the emotional & spiritual transformation most programs don’t have, so you actually keep it off in the long run.” Super excited about that!

Today’s guest, Dr Adi Jaffe holds a Phd is psychology, has done a Ted Talk and is the founder along with his darling wife Sofie, of https://www.igntd.com/ He hosts a podcast, and has a variety of offerings to support healing and recovery.

Dr Jaffe is wildly controversial by design, but underneath it all, I would say he is meeting some people at the beginning of their recovery journey, or people who have tried other methods. He is serving a specific demographic of people on the addiction spectrum who may or may not require abstinence.

While I would reframe some of the ideas he presented, but I actually agreed with most of what he said. I also really appreciate that not everyone who needs addiction recovery, is actually dealing with the same set of issues, and that each person should be evaluated as an individual and that multiple modalities of treatment are necessary for most people.

So with alll of that, please enjoy this episode with Dr Adi Jaffe.
