Arlina – Dealing with sudden death, changing relationships, depression in children, anonymity, and a deeper understanding of God.

At the risk of coming across as totally self indulgent, I thought I’d share some lesson learned this year as I celebrate 24 years of recovery.

There are so many people I am grateful for who show me what it means to live this beautiful life of recovery. Although I had some deeply painful experiences this year, not once did I think about drinking or using. I don’t even know how to express what a miracle that is.

There were many, many, happy and joyful moments as well. This year I expanded my tribe to the online community at large and I have met so many people who have dedicated their lives to ending the shame of addiction and help others recover, that I’m forever changed. I’m so grateful for the people who have been brave enough to tell their stories so that it might help someone suffering to find hope.

This community I’m blessed to be a part of LOOOOOVES to have a good time too! Just picture a room full of people who would have been the class clown, add a dash of wisdom and fierce loyalty and you might have a glimmer of how amazing these people are. Thank you my fabulous friends!

One person I must mention is my sponsor. She is my magical unicorn and I am forever grateful for her. She completely gets me and she holds such a safe space for me, I find that the work we do together feels bigger than the both of us and I always leave her feeling hopeful and inspired. If you’ve ever worked steps with someone you really connect with you know what I’m talking about. I love you Elizabeth. Thank you with all my heart.

For the one person who means the world to me and who walks this path with me every day, my most favorite person in the world, my love, my life, my husband, thank you for supporting me through everything, no matter what. Thank you for always having my back and making me laugh every day of my life. You are my moon & stars <3

Last but not least, thank you to all the listeners around the world. I’m so grateful for the notes on social media and emails I get from people who let me know they are connecting to the stories they hear. Thank you so much for your support!!

So with that, I hope you enjoy this short anniversary episode.

Peace & love,

Arlina
