OC76-Jacob R Jones, Author of Recovered, on Anxiety, Broken Dreams, Opioid Addiction and Helping Others

Hi Friend!

Welcome you to another episode of The ODAAT Chat Podcast!

In case you are new here, My name is Arlina and I’ll be your host. This is a podcast where my guests share their stories of alcoholism and addiction and their journey to recovery.

So I have a very serious and important question for you? Have you worked the steps? Would you like to work the steps? What if I said you could work the steps with me on the show.. ANONYMOUSLY?? I’m looking for a few brave souls who are willing to volunteer so that others may benefit from your example.

If you’re interested, shoot me an email saying “I’m in” to: podcastvolunteer@gmail.com

So today I’d like to introduce you to my new friend Jacob R Jones, the author of “Recovered, How an unsustainable addiction lead to a sustained life” where he tells the story of how he got addicted to opioids, how it affected his family and how he, with the help of a lot of other people, was able to overcome his addiction and recover.

In this episode, we dive deep into his very sport centered family, including dad who was a professional football player and his high school coach. We talk about how he struggled with self consciousness and anxiety from being teased as a kid, to his subsequent opioid addiction which lead to a psychotic break. It’s always fascinating to me to hear the sequence of events that leads someone out of that bondage because it so often involves a near death experience like Jacob’s. But he makes it out of that deep despair and now he uses those experiences to help others do the same. Of course he goes into much more detail in the book, and has many many more stories, and even some pictures too.

If you know me at all, you know I have a special place in my heart for people who help others end their suffering like Jacob does.
