OC48 – Rynda – 25 Years Sober – The Music Business, Heroin, and Healing the Mind, Body, and Spirit

Welcome to the ODAAT Chat podcast, my name is Arlina and I’ll be your host.

If you are new here, this is a podcast where my guests and I talk about how to recovery from alcoholism and many forms of addiction.

Before I jump into the overview of today’s podcast, I just want to share a reading from one of my favorite daily readings called Jesus Calling. When I read it this morning it gave me a huge sense of relief, so here it an excerpt:

“It is not so much adverse events that make you anxious as it is your thoughts about those events. Your mind engages in efforts to take control of a situation, to bring about the result you desire. Your thoughts close in on the problem like ravenous wolves. Determined to make things go your way, you forget that I am in charge of your life. The only remedy is to stop all your striving, and watch to see what I will do.” Jesus Calling, by Sarah Young

Stop all your striving! Love that!

Today my guest is Rynda Laurel. She spent her earlier years in the music business where her heroine addiction developed. Rynda was kind enough to share how she was able to recover, experience healing and maintain her sobriety for over 25 years now. She actually provides some of the most practical advice for newcomers that I’ve ever heard, beyond the typical 12 step recovery suggestions. Her approach incorporates the body, mind and spirit in a holistic approach. I sure learned a lot and I hope you do too!

With love & gratitude,

Arlina
